Introducing The StockMate Checkering Cradle
Made from aluminum and a carbon fiber reinforced polymer, the StockMate Checkering Cradle is designed to give the artisan the utmost control and stability while checkering the gunstock you meticulously spent hours crafting. The StockMate is designed to collapse together so that you are not left with the base of the cradle sticking out beyond your work. This design enables you to get easy access to your project without having to work around a long and heavy checkering cradle.
The StockMate Checkering Cradle with Full Length Stock
The buttstock attachment pivots so that it fully engages with the stock no matter the gun’s pitch. Two screws on either side apply pressure to the leather covered inserts that gently squeeze to retain the gunstock in its place. On one of the arms, you will find a ball bearing set screw that allows you to control just how easily the stock rotates in the cradle. You can completely lock it down or loosen it to spin freely. This feature is especially handy when laying out a pattern and you don’t want the stock to randomly rotate while setting in master lines or carving borders. Provided are two leather-lined endcaps that are used to hold your work when the buttstock attachment is not in use. One of the endcaps can be used in conjunction with the buttstock attachment for a rifle length stock or a two piece buttstock.
